Charlotte 80 @ Detroit 78
Palace of Auburn Hills
Literally a last second jumper was the deciding factor in this showdown at the Palace. Charlotte’s Raymond Felton shook off the trade rumors, and nailed a jumper with 0.7 seconds left in the match to clinch the win for the Charlotte Bobcats. Felton finished on 23 points, while Gerald Wallace got 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats. Emeka Okafor also contributed with 13. On the Pistons, Rodney Stuckey led with 22 in Rip Hamilton’s first game back with the Piston. All 5 of the Detroit starters (Stuckey, Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and Allen Iverson) finished with double digit scoring. On a heartwarming note, 4 Pistons starters went to the Bobcats bench at the start of the game to give Bobcats coach Larry Brown a hug. Wallace, Hamilton and Prince were part of Brown’s championship Pistons in 2004, and Iverson played under Brown in Philadelphia.

Anything you can do, I can do better. That was the attitude that Randy Foye of the Minnesota Timberwolves brought to the match, and he took it to one of the biggest names in the game – Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat. And he almost succeeded in giving his team the win, as the fell by a meager 3 points, to the much improved Miami Heat. Wade had 31 and Foye had 29 as the two players – one a proven star, the other a rising star – refused to back down. For the Heat, Udonis Haslem had 17 points 10 rebounds and Shawn Marion had 16 points 11 rebounds. Rodney Carney added 15 for the Wolves, while Ryan Gomes had 11.
