| Iverson is sidelined with a back injury. He was told to take two weeks off. And the Pistons told him that when he returns, he will be coming off the bench.
This couldn't come at a worse time for Iverson. He'll be 34 this summer, and doesn't have a contract for next season. Both the luxury tax and salary cap are expected to go down next season, reducing the chances that a team will take a flyer on him.The way this season is going can't help, either.During his time with the 76ers, it was always assumed that if Iverson only had someone else to take the scoring load off of him, to minimize the double teams, that he would flourish and lead the team to a championship. The Sixers never accommodated him, bringing in either flawed players or those past their prime. The list includes Toni Kukoc, Keith Van Horn, Derrick Coleman, Glenn Robinson and Chris Webber.
Even after the Sixers traded Iverson to Denver in December 2006 so he could play with Carmelo Anthony, it was always assumed that if he was on a team with a true point guard, as well as a second scorer, he would flourish and lead the team to a championship. That didn't work, either.Iverson has all of that now in Detroit, going to a team that has made the Eastern Conference finals for the past six seasons. Rodney Stuckey is the point guard. Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace are all capable scorers. And they are all capable defenders.

Do you think that the Detroit Pistons regret now that they made that trade that sent Chauncey Billups to Denver for Allen Iverson? I really think they do, Billups is a tonne better player and has just improved since moving, he has taken on a more leadership role and this is how he has said that he likes it. Simple fact when at Denver Iverson didnt work well with Carmelo Anthony. I am sure Iverson will play again in Detroit but where to for him in his future now? Another team for him? Or will he go overseas? | |

| I hope he has a career. At least one more year. Let him play with a contender. He will be among the greatest of the Point Guards. All he needs now is a ring to match it. | |

| Nah he will remain there, He will be retain although i think wallace will be heading else where at the end of the season and this has been clearly made that the pistons are looking to offload him. The 2009 nba rookie draft will tell the story, the only problem with Allen Iverson is that they have a great point guard there in stuckey so that could make him nervous as the pistons are also building for the future. | |
